Scottish Senior Open, Cragielaw Golf Club, Staysure Tour.

Wow. Wow wow. We had 3 days with strong winds and very testing conditions. The Cragielaw golf course is not designed for strong winds. The pushup undulated greens are made for calm conditions, not a gale force wind. We struggled to keep the ball on the greens, when downwind, from 40 yards. Putting was extremely difficult and my stance became wider and wider as the days went on just to try and stabilize my body.

The Staysure PGA Championship is our only 4 round tournament outside the majors. It is hosted by the London Golf Club, a fun golf course with 5 par 5's, which gives you an opportunity to make lots of birdies or eagles. Every time I tee it up on this course, I get the feeling there is a low score waiting. Unfortunately, this didn't happen this year. Actually, I had a great chance to shoot a good score in the first round, but didn't make the putts and returned a 1 under 71.

It is such a big pleasure to be playing at WINSTONgolf in the company of Mr. Pons family, friends, colleagues and business relations. It is now the 7th time I visit WINSTONgolf and the staff go a long way to please all of us during this special week. This year we were lucky to have Berhard Langer, Esteban Toledo and Jose Maria Olazabal in the field. It gives an extra  sparkle to the tournament.

The Swiss Seniors Open is the first tournament of five tournaments in a row. It started well with a 68 that could have been a few shots lower. Got off to a good start in the second round and got it to 4 under for the tournament.  Then the putter went absolutely cold for the rest of the tournament and I finished at 3 over par for the 54 holes and a frustrating experience. I was playing well the first couple of rounds but could not put a good score together. I lost momentum quickly in the final round and never got it back.

Golf is totally unpredictable, I am amazed how this game can get me in a bad mood and break me down over a tournament. I came in to the week feeling great and with lots of positives from Italy last week. I am going home with just the opposite. It was one of those weeks where it is good to evaluate quickly and forget the rest. Get on with something else. I shot 76-76-78 and finished 52nd.

On my way to Jordan to start the 2019 season.

After a 2 ½ month break from golf, I started hitting balls again in the beginning of March. I needed a break to stand back and look at last season. What to learn from 2018, and how to proceed with 2019. It is easier get a clear picture after a while and put a plan together going forward.

The final tournament of the 2018 season is played and another golfing year comes to an end. The course at the Seychelles had some of the most spectacular views I have ever seen on a golfcourse. The first 12 holes were played in a flat landscape and the last 6 holes were played in the mountains with severe drops and uphill challenges.
